Homecoming season in the Atlanta University Center has evolved over the years to become one of the most exciting times of year, particularly with the return of Morris Brown, the continued dominance of Clark Atlanta’s weeklong party and the combined power of Spelman and Morehouse becoming an official thing.

Obviously, there are school-sanctioned events open to the public, but there are also turn-ups that have little to do with anything approved by the deans, provosts and official campus organizations. And homecoming without a bit of both would be quite a bore, so UATL has a great mix of event options for you to participate in AUC Homecoming all around town.

Omega4MBC’s Morris Brown Homecoming Party

Morris Brown College alumni who also happen to be members of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity are hosting this event, whose proceeds help fund annual donations toward the HBCU’s Founder’s Day and initiatives such as their Student Leaders Scholarship Endowment Fund.

Oct. 10, 9 p.m. Westside Cultural Arts Center, 760 10th St. NW, Atlanta, Eventbee

Morris Brown Homecoming tailgate

The official homecoming parade kicks off Saturday morning in front of Flipper Temple A.M.E. Church, and continues along Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard to Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard, on to MLK Jr. Drive before arriving back on campus. That begins the official homecoming celebration, which lasts until sundown.

Oct. 11, 9 a.m. Flipper Temple A.M.E. Church, 580 Atlanta Student Movement Blvd., Atlanta. Website

Nike Air Max 95 HBCU Pack

Get your pre-homecoming SpelHouse look together with a pair of exclusive Air Max 95s whose colorways match the official school colors of Morehouse and Spelman. They will also have food, free custom HBCU T-shirts from The Athlete’s Foot, a photography setup and three deejay sets led by HBCU alums, including DJ Tron of Morehouse, at noon.

Oct. 11th, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. The Athlete’s Foot, 931 Monroe Dr., Ste. 113 E, Atlanta. Instagram

AUC Student & Alumni Entrepreneurs Brunch

Come and meet the future of Black business at this gathering of founders, innovators and visionaries representing the Atlanta University Center, and hear a keynote speech from financial services executive Ronald Falls Jr.

Oct. 12, 3 p.m. Spelman After Dark, Beverly Daniel Tatum Suites, 350 Spelman Lane SW, Atlanta. Instagram

SpelHouse Black and White Party

Bring the contrasting hues of zero color and full saturation to this party that runs until 3 a.m. at this newly opened restaurant and lounge.

Oct. 17, 10 p.m. Avenue Kitchen & Cocktail, 587 North Ave., Northwest Atlanta. Eventbrite

SpelHouse “Forever Young”

This huge function has been happening for 24 years and is highly likely to sell out, as it’s developed a reputation for bringing alumni — as it’s specifically inviting the Class of 1998 to celebrate this year — together to celebrate.

Oct. 17. 10 p.m. The Foundry at Puritan Mill, 916 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd. NW Atlanta. Eventbrite

Growncoming

For Spelman and Morehouse alumni representing Generation X, who might be interested in a Midtown party with a possible overnight stay, this SpelHouse event is specifically aimed at the 40-years-and-older crowd and has an all-star crew of well-known grads serving as ambassadors.

Oct. 17, 9 p.m. The Starling, 188 14th St. NE, Atlanta. Freshtix

Official CAU Homecoming events

Homecoming week at Clark Atlanta starts Oct. 19 with an on-campus 5K run, continuing with the coronation of Mister and Miss CAU 2025, an alumni welcome mixer, a Greek step show, CAU’s famous homecoming fashion show, and more, all leading to the parade, tailgate and game on Oct. 25.

Oct. 19-25. Various locations. Website

CAU Legends events

There‘ll be plenty of unofficial fun for CAU alumni all around Atlanta, hosted by the CAU Legends crew, during homecoming week. The action begins Oct. 23 with “Alumni House” at Whisky Mistress, continues with an alumni yard takeover, a young alumni party at The Bank, and an all-black party the night before the big game at recently opened lounge Avenue.

Oct. 23-24. Various locations. Website

The Panther Dome

This five-hour, all-in-one party organized by the alumni group RUN CAU combines the crowds of three promoters who’ve thrown major homecoming parties in years past, all but guaranteeing a massive Friday night turnout to celebrate Clark Atlanta. Discounted early bird tickets are available until Oct. 24; express entry, VIP access and table sections are also for purchase.

Oct. 24. 174 Northside Dr. NW, Atlanta. Eventbrite
