Nia Sioux, was one of the original dancers on “Dance Moms,” which means she’s got stories for days.

Sioux’s new book, “Bottom of the Pyramid: A Memoir of Persevering, Dancing for Myself, and Starring in My Own Life,” gets into all the behind-the-scenes drama of the popular reality television series.

In the latest episode of the “It’s UATL” podcast, hosts Najja Parker and DeAsia Paige talk with Sioux about being one of the few Black faces in the dance studio.

“I feel like it was typical in the competition dance space to be the only Black girl on the team, which is very interesting, because Black people have been like the pioneers of dance,” she said.

“I have a really amazing mom and family behind me because they had my back during all of it.”
