A trailblazing wine community honoring Black culture and tradition
Atlanta-based sommelier and founder of "The Hue Society" Tahiirah Habibi shares how she’s decolonizing the wine industry one pour at a time. Drawing from her lived experience as a Black woman in a historically exclusive field, Habibi challenges outdated assumptions about wine culture, pairing and taste. Through "The Hue Society," she’s carving out inclusive spaces that honor Black food traditions, center Black-owned wine brands and dismantle the myth that wine knowledge isn’t for people who look like her. Whether she’s pairing vintage Champagne with soul food or teaching others how to confidently order for the table, her work redefines wine as a tool for empowerment, connection and cultural pride.
