Saving lives one stroke at a time: How Swemschool is changing swim access in Atlanta
Swemschool founder Trish Miller learned to swim as an adult after years of fearing the water. Today, she runs Atlanta’s largest Black-founded swim school, serving more than 1,000 students a week. The program prioritizes neighborhoods with the highest drowning rates and offers subsidies to families who could not otherwise afford lessons. The school teaches students from as young as four months old through advanced levels, including adults learning for the first time.
