Sisterhood and success, meet Spelman’s seven valedictorians
Seven seniors at Spelman College are graduating as valedictorians — each earning a perfect 4.0 GPA and making history as the largest group of valedictorians in the college’s history. Known as “The Spelman Seven,” these future doctors, lawyers, filmmakers, scholars and leaders say their success was built through sisterhood, resilience and pushing one another through every challenge along the way. From late nights and demanding coursework to family responsibilities and personal sacrifices, they leaned on each other from freshman year to graduation day — proving the power of Black excellence, community, (please remove oxford comma) and academic achievement at one of the nation’s leading HBCUs.
