‘It’s UATL’ podcast: Spelman College’s new president opens up
The woman leading Spelman College’s charge as their 12th president has a track record of leaving places better than she found them.
Before taking the helm at one of America’s top historically Black colleges and universities in August, Dr. Ayanna Howard was already making a habit of challenging industry status quos.
“I felt like my strength was going into rooms where no one looked like me and making sure that there were others that looked like me when I left,” Howard told the hosts of “It’s UATL.”
Howard, a former college dean of engineering and NASA employee, has an extensive background in tech. She’s also a lover of fine arts and humanities. What does this all mean for how she might lead Spelman’s next chapter?
The hosts of “It’s UATL” — including Spelman alumnae, Najja Parker — chatted with Howard about her vision, and challenges that lie ahead.
